Get your child excited any way you can - a pep talk, calling it their "school year selfie," whatever works! The more you talk it up, the more excited (and less nervous) they'll feel. It's a fun way to capture who they are this year.

PLANNING FOR PHOTO DAY

Individual photos are framed from just below the waist up, so focus on a nice top and pants or a dress. You want your kids to look like your kids, so dress them in something they love to wear and are comfortable in. But remember, these photos might end up on your wall, so aim for something a little more put-together than everyday casual wear.

Feet are sometimes visible, so pick shoes that match the outfit and are clean and dirt-free. They don’t have to be your kids nicest pair of shoes but they should go with their outfit.

Busy prints and logos don't photograph as well as solid colors or simple patterns. Outfits with layers do typically photograph well (a shirt with jacket or cardigan over it).

Hands often are seen in photos, so give nails a quick trim and a good clean the night before your kids photo day.

Choose the outfit (and any accessories) a few days early and set it aside in the closet - it saves last-minute stress.

Have them practice their smile at home in the mirror a few times prior to photo day, it helps kids feel confident instead of stiff for the camera.

THE MORNING OF PHOTO DAY

Spend a few extra minutes on hair (and teeth!) in the morning. If they are old enough to brush their own hair you can tuck a small brush in their backpack for a touch-up before lining up. If it normally takes you 10 minutes to get your kids ready for school, plan 15-20 minutes on photo day.

If your child wears glasses, give the lenses a good cleaning in the morning - smudges show up more than you'd expect on camera.

A good night's sleep and a good breakfast will help them start the day feeling their best.

You'll get an email with a preview of your child's photos and your ordering options. Digital downloads are available for individual photos for a small additional fee. Due to privacy concerns class photos are print-only. Every order ships right to your home.
