Preparing Your Kid For Photo Day!

Here are some tips to prepare your kids for their school portraits!

PLAN EARLY

Prepare the outfit you would like your child to wear at least a few days in advance. We find planning ahead eliminates last minute stress trying to find the right outfit. Pick out what you would like them to wear and place the outfit with any accessories to one side of your closet.

PLAN HEAD TO TOE

We may see your child’s feet, so please be mindful of the shoes you have them wear. Ideally, the shoes they wear to photo day should match the style of their outfit and be clean and free from dirt.

AVOID BUSY PATTERNS AND LOGOS

Busy patterns and logos are not attractive in photos. Please try to avoid both.

THINK DRESSY

Try to avoid sending your kiddo to school in a plain t-shirt or clothing that is too casual. Remember, these photos are going to potentially go up on your wall!

PLAN EXTRA TIME TO GET THEM READY IN THE MORNING

If it normally takes you 10 minutes to get your kids ready for school, plan 15-20 minutes on photo day. This will help ensure you give them extra care to make sure their hair and clothes are just the way you like. We will look them over right before their photo is taken, but our time is limited with each child so please check them over and spend extra time with them so that you love their photos even more!

MAKE SURE THEY ARE WELL FED AND WELL RESTED

Hungry and tired kids are unhappy kids. ‘Nuff said.

TALK UP THE SESSION

We find that talking to your kids ahead of time about school photo day will help prepare them for success. You can even practice smiling with them in the mirror and get them excited about taking a photo that will go up on your fridge or wall! If you get them excited about it, they will likely come to us with a positive upbeat attitude about the whole thing!
