At BK Rose Studio, we specialize in first birthday cake smash photography in our Libertyville studio, serving families throughout Lake County and the Northwest Chicago suburbs.
You pick a theme from our curated collection, and we take care of absolutely everything else - set design, cake, backdrop, props, and guidance from start to finish. All you have to do is show up and let your one-year-old do their thing.

Cake smash sessions are held entirely in our Libertyville studio. Before your session, we'll connect to choose your theme and talk through outfit ideas. On the day of, we set everything up before you arrive so your baby can walk in and get right to the fun. Sessions include clean portrait images before the smash, the full cake smash, and a splash bath tub finale if you'd like one. We keep things relaxed, follow your baby's lead, and capture every messy, joyful moment along the way.

After booking, we'll share our theme collection for you to browse and choose from. Themes are available anytime, or you may request a custom set with at least one month's notice.

Nope - we handle it. The cake, backdrop, props, wardrobe, and full set design are all included in your session.

Yes, yes, and yes!!! We prioritize being as eco-friendly as possible. Our cake smash sets use mainly reusable balloons, reusable backdrops, minimal disposable items, and thoughtfully curated décor to reduce waste.

After your session, a private gallery will be emailed to you within 5–7 days.

We absolutely don't expect kids to be perfect angels - and honestly, some of our favorite images come from the chaotic moments. We have plenty of tricks up our sleeve to keep little ones engaged, laughing, and moving naturally in front of the camera. We keep sessions relaxed and fun, follow the kids' lead, and never force a pose. Don't stress - we've got you.

Cake smash sessions are designed for babies turning one. We recommend scheduling within a few weeks of their first birthday.
